It is so easy to get abroad nowadays and to escape to France especially with ferry, tunnel, train and plane crossings. This weekend we chose to find a new beach in France and as I was practicing my rusty French I thought how easy it would’ve been if the government chose our closest neighbour’s language to use as a bilingual project. The Dutch and Belgium are multilingual. Most Europeans speak English so why dont the UK? If we did speak English and French from birth how much easier would it be to add other languages?
From September it will be compulsory to teach primary kids from age 7 a language but will they be able to continue the same language through secondary?
Everyone should learn…
